Tripp Henderson takes over at Glenwood

August 25, 2013

Coach: Tripp Henderson, first year (23-20 overall)

Assistant coach: Tripp Henderson, offensive coordinator, Josh McConnell, defensive coordinator, Cody Dykes, Gene Reeder, Cody Pearcy, John Davis, Bryant Mosely, John Robertson, Dusty Perdue, Tommy Claridy, Scott Dykes

Homefield: Sammy Howard Field (The Swamp)

2012 record: 7-4, lost to Fort Dale Academy 41-38 in the first round of the AISA state playoffs

Region: AISA Region 1-AAAGood news: There's always plenty for Glenwood to be excited about. It is a perennial contender in the playoffs, and that's likely to remain the same despite breaking in a new head coach and a lot of new starters on both sides of the ball. It returns one of its best players, Tripp Henderson is excited about leading the program, and the players and fans are likely to follow suit.

Bad news: Having only three returning starters poses a challenge under any circumstance. A new head coach with new schemes and expectations, however, can make things even more difficult. A lot of the offseason was likely spent getting used to each other and learning new plays, so it will be somewhat of a trial by fire when the Gators get into a live game.

Our take: The good thing is that Henderson isn't teaching old dogs new tricks. He has a fresh group of guys, many of whom are sophomores, who aren't so ingrained in the old system that they won't be able to pick up a new one. Glenwood should again expect to play postseason football.
