Columbus man reports being kicked in face, robbed at gunpoint

A 35-year-old Columbus man told police that early Saturday morning, he was beaten and robbed at gunpoint.

According to the police report. the incident happened sometime between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. on 8th Street near Illges Road.

The victim told police that a man approached him and asked him for a light. He told the man he did not have one and then the suspect pointed a gun at him and ordered him to the ground. The victim said he was then kicked in the face and hit in the head three times with the pistol. Police noticed abrasions to the top of the victim's head.

Taken from him was a wallet containing a food stamp card and a Medicaid card. The total value of items taken was estimated at $20. A set of house keys was also stolen.

The victim described his assailant as being around 35 years old and wearing all black.

With the assailant was a black man, also about 35 years old, who wore a black shirt and gray pants.
