Kendrick scores in overtime for win over Americus-Sumter

AMERICUS, Ga. -- Jaquariez Scott scored on an 8-yard run to give Kendrick a 14-8 win over Americus-Sumter on Friday night at Alton Shell Stadium in the season-opener for both teams.

The game-winning run was set by by a fourth-and-19 pass from Jonathan Hines to Antonio Jones that set up the Cherokees at the Americus-Sumter 8-yard line.

Kendrick's first touchdown came in the first quarter as Reno Lee ran in from 5 yards out.

Kendrick also opened last season at Americus-Sumter and lost 25-6.

The Cherokees travel to play at Marion County on Friday.
