A 21-year-old Columbus woman is accused of setting a fire in an Oates Avenue apartment Friday during a dispute with her live-in boyfriend, police said.

Beatriz Comse of 3900 Oates Ave. was charged with one count each of arson first degree, simple assault and disorderly conduct. She was released on bond from the Muscogee County Jail.

In a report, police said a resident flagged down an officer about 2:45 p.m. to report a fight. At the apartment, police said Comse was arguing with her 26-year-old boyfriend when she allegedly placed a pink jacket on the stove and started a fire inside the apartment. The boyfriend was inside the apartment during the fire.

Police said Comse attempted to attack the victim while police were at the apartment. No estimate of damage was available.
