A thief snatched the car keys from the hand of a Columbus woman late Friday and fled in her Saturn on Forrest Road, police said.

The 36-year-old woman wasn’t injured in the 10:10 p.m. incident at Farah Food Express, 5506 Forrest Road.

Police said the woman had parked her green 1997 Saturn SL2 in the north side of the parking lot at the convenience store when she noticed a man talking on a cell phone and standing near her vehicle. As she left her vehicle, the woman said the man immediately confronted her and snatched the car keys from her hand.

The thief entered the car and sped west on Forrest Road at a high rate of speed.

Officers started searching for the vehicle but it wasn’t recovered.

The victim described the car thief as black, about 5 feet, 4 inches tall and 20-21 years old. He was wearing a white T-shirt and dark pants. The vehicle has a license plate with the word TRICEY 2 on it.
