'Recycle and Win': Columbus chosen to participate in program

Columbus has been chosen to participate in the Coca-Cola Co.'s "Recycle and Win" program, a company representative told Columbus Council today.

Residents who opt in to the program will get a sticker to put on their recycling bin. Inspectors will ride around the city seeing who is recycling a lot and recycling the proper items.

Winners will receive $50 gift cards from Coca-Cola.

Coke representative Jim Bailey said recycling rates in other participating cities have increased.

Director of Public Works Pat Biegler said a she hopes the program will help stimulate participation in the city's recycling program.
