Columbus State defeats Fort Valley State 3-0 in volleyball

FORT VALLEY, Ga. -- Mary McCarty had 11 kills and Emily Veihman had 13 digs Wednesday to lead Columbus State to a straight-sets win over Fort Valley State.

The Lady Cougars (4-0) jumped out to early leads in all three sets and won them easily, 25-10, 25-6 and 25-9.

Kierston Smith had 21 assists and Ivana Kazic add 20 assists in the match.

Andrea Skipor nine kills on 11 attacks. Kyle Beaubien had four aces to lead CSU.

Fort Valley State (1-5) was on the defensive from the start, tallying on 8 kills in 61 attacks. CSU 45 kills in 82 attacks.

CSU travels to Georgia Regents University Friday for a 7 p.m. match.
