HARDAWAY VS. SHAW

Records: Hardaway 2-0, Shaw 1-1

Last week: Hardaway beat Columbus 21-7; Shaw lost to Carver 48-24.

Last meeting: Shaw beat Hardaway 27-6 last season.

Series record: Shaw leads series 14-12 with six wins in a row. Hardaway's last win came in 1998, 28-7. That broke a Shaw six-game win streak in the series.

You need to know: Hardaway takes a major step up in competition this week after its first two wins were against Jordan and Columbus. … Justin Crawford has rushed for 263 yards and four touchdowns for the Hawks. Shaw quarterback Tyron Huff has completed 35-of-64 passes for 362 yards and three touchdowns. … After this game, Shaw will have a week off, then start seven straight weeks of Region 5-AAAA play. … Hardaway heads to Valdosta to play Lowndes next week.

KENDRICK VS. BOWDON

Records: Kendrick 1-1, 0-1 Region 5-AA; Bowdon 2-0, 0-0

Last week: Kendrick lost to Marion County 20-14; Bowdon beat Haralson County 45-6.

Last meeting: Bowdon beat Kendrick 34-14 last season.

Series record: Bowdon won the teams' only meeting last season.

You need to know: Kendrick's rally against Marion County fell short last week. The Cherokees trailed 20-0 at halftime before a fumble return for a touchdown and Marvin Lewis' TD run cut the deficit to six. … Bowdon outscored its first two opponents 114-26.
