Sept. 14 is National Cream-Filled Doughnut Day: No, we're not kidding

Need a reason to consume some extra calories? Today (Sept. 14) is National Cream-Filled Doughnut Day, according to the Internet. It shouldn’t be confused with its rival holiday, International Jelly-Filled Doughnut Day, which is apparently celebrated in June.

According to BuzzFeed, "The Guinness World Record for most doughnuts eaten in one sitting is 49 doughnuts in eight minutes."

All of this doughnut excitement makes me contemplate conducting an epic face-off to determine who sells the best doughnuts in the Chattahoochee Valley. It seems like a fairly divisive topic that attracts pretty solid allegiances.

Quick poll: What's your go-to doughnut destination?
