SAINT LEO, Fla. -- The Columbus State Lady Cougars volleyball team fell to host Saint Leo University 3-1 before beating Molloy 3-1 Saturday at the Saint Leo Invitational.
Saint Leo won the first set against CSU 25-9. The Lady Cougars battled back and won the second set 25-22.
Saint Leo took control for the rest of the match, winning the third set 25-13 and the fourth set 25-12.
Cheyenne Swenson led the Lady Cougars with 11 kills in the match. Katie Poole had seven kills and eight digs, Erika Gelzinyte added four kills, an ace and seven digs.
Megan Frame totaled three kills and two digs, while Kierston Smith tallied one kill, one ace and seven digs.
In the nightcap against Molloy, CSU got off to a much better start. The Lady Cougars won the first set 25-13 and the second set 25-20.
Molloy found its stride and took the third set 25-23, but Columbus State finished out the match by finishing the fourth set ahead 28-26.
Gelzinyte led the team in kills during the second match with 11. Swenson had seven kills, and Poole had six kills and seven digs.
Smith had four kills, four aces, 20 assists and 13 digs, while Ivana Kazic tallied 15 assists and five digs and Taylor Ray added 17 digs.
Columbus State (8-5) will host Armstrong Atlantic Friday at 7 p.m.
