SEALE, Ala. -- Russell County scored with 1:03 remaining in the game, but it took a fumble recovery with 21 seconds on the clock to finally put away Northside 21-17 Friday night.

Northside scored with 3:59 left in the fourth quarter, when Kalan Watts drove through the center of the Warrior defense to score from 7 yards out. Nathan Robertson's point after gave the Patriots a 17-13 lead.

At that point Russell County had only 14 total yards of offense in the second half. The Warriors took possession at its 18-yard line.

Five plays later Byron Johnson hit Chavel Smith in the flats and Smith turned it into a 53-yard reception. Joshua Johonson scored from 4 yards out on the next play to put Russell County up 19-17.

Joshua Washington's point after try missed low and a flag was thrown for roughing the kicker. Northside argued that the low kick was tipped.

The Warriors opted to go for two after the penalty set the ball at the Patriot 1-yard line. Johnson scored around the left end of the Northside defense. The two-point conversion took the score to 21-17 and prevented Northside from being able to win on a Robertson field goal.

Derrick Brownridge returned the ensuing kickoff 33-yards to the Warrior 43-yard line. Jonathan Karastury connected on passes of 13-yards to Chris Gray and 18-yards to Brownridge to set Northside up with at the Warrior 12-yard line. After a spiked ball to stop the clock and an incompletion in the endzone Karastury could not handle a low snap that was recovered by Javon Rogers to secure the win.

Russell County's Cameron Brooks fumbled the opening kick off but it was Northside that had four turnovers on the night.

Northside capped an 8-play 64-yard drive on a Karastury quarterback sneak to take a 7-0 lead in the first quarter.

Russell County answered with a 2-play 74-yard drive when Joshua Johnson went down the left sideline for a 63-yard run. The missed extra point brought the score to 7-6.

The Warriors took advantage of two Patriot turnovers to take its first lead in the second quarter.

Johnson scored on a sneak of his own to put Russell County up 13-7.

Robertson hit a 40 yard field goal with :29 seconds remaining.
