High school roundup: Harris County wins regular-season title

BAINBRIDGE, Ga. -- Harris County won the Region 1-AAAAA regular-season title and the No. 1 seed for the upcoing region tournament with a 12-0 win over Bainbridge Saturday morning.

Lilly Hooper pitched a four-hitter in a game shortened to five innings due to the mercy rule.

Sara Kate Jenkins (2-for-3) hit a homer and drove in three runs.Saturday at Bainbridge

Columbus goes 3-2 at Hoover tournament

The Columbus girl's volleyball team went 3-2 and finished ninth out of 30 teams in a tournament played at Hoover Saturday.

Columbus defeated Tuscaloosa County, Oak Mountain and Oxford and fell to McGill-Toolen and Grissom.

Brianna Gogins led the team with 34 kills. Columbus (27-12) will host LaGrange Tuesday at 5 p.m.Saturday at Hoover

THOMASTON, Ga. -- The Northside boys cross country team finished second in a 17-team field in the Rock Ranch Invitational.

The Northside girls finished third in a 16-team field.
