Suspect in fatal shooting surrenders

At approximately 12:30 a.m. Sunday, the suspect in a fatal shooting surrendered to police in Valley, Ala.

According to a police report, the suspect is 30-year-old Valley resident Jeriko Martez Harris.

A murder warrant had been issued for his arrest.

He was questioned by police, booked into custody and transported to the Chambers County Detention Facility.

The victim of the shooting is Acquera Monquail Story, 26, of Valley.

At 6 p.m. Saturday, Valley police responded to a call about an accident involving one vehicle at the intersection of Richmond Street and Cusseta Road. Upon arrival, police found Story had been shot twice and was unresponsive.

He died later at George H. Lanier Hospital.

A passenger, who was in the car with Story, said they had just turned east onto Huguley Road when a passenger in a white car traveling west opened fire on them.

Police say the witness identified the shooter as Harris.

No motive has been identified.
