Battle Court man allegedly threatens woman, steals jewelry

Threatening to "bust (his roommate) in the head," a 68-year-old man was charged with simple assault and stealing jewelry at a Battle Court home Monday, according to a Columbus Police report.

Police took Robert Lee James into custody at about 5 p.m., after the victim was able to call police. According to the report, James took $300 worth of jewelry from the woman, whom he resides with. The victim's and suspect's exact relationship was not disclosed.

James was charged with family violence simple assault and theft by taking. He was transported to Muscogee County Jail.
