Opelika man killed in one-car accident on Pepperell Parkway

A 20-year-old Opelika, Ala., man was killed Tuesday morning in a one-car accident on Pepperell Parkway near 24th Street, according to Opelika Police.

Jeffery Montrel Lyles, Jr., was taken to East Alabama Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The crash happened shortly after 8 p.m. EST.

Lyles was driving a gold Nissan Maxima that was found in the grass near the eastbound side of the road. The car was next to a tree.
