Report: Suspect points gun at officer during arrest of marijuana dealer

Arresting a suspected marijuana dealer became dangerous Wednesday when one of the accused allegedly pointed a gun at an officer, according to a Columbus Police report.

Police stopped 22-year-old Kurtiss Oestricher and 20-year-old Keyon Clanzy at about 2:30 p.m near the intersection of 25th Avenue and Dawson Street. An unspecified amount of marijuana was found during the arrest.

At some point, 20-year-old Deaven Shephard allegedly pointed a pistol at an officer. Shephard was detained and arrested. No police were harmed during the incident.

No further information about the event was available.

Shephard was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, obstruction of a law enforcement officer, pointing a gun, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, reckless conduct and theft by receiving stolen property.

Oestricher was charged with possession of marijuana with intent. All three men were charged with loitering.
