Harris County softball team wins region title

LEESBURG, Ga. -- Harris County beat Thomas County Central 4-0 late Thursday night to win the Region 1-AAAAA softball championship.

Kayla Cotton picked up the win as she shut out the Yellow Jackets on just three hits.

Abby White led the Lady Tigers at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs.

The Lady Tigers (22-7) will host a first-round series in the state playoffs beginning on Wednesday. The opponent will be the No. 4 seed from Region 3. That team has not been determined.

Earlier on Thursday, TCC beat Harris County 3-2 to force a second championship game. Erin Dansby had a homer in the loss for Harris County.
