Free food alert: Burger King offering free Satisfries Oct. 12-13

ssorich@ledger-enquirer.comOctober 11, 2013

Free french fries -- without the guilt? That’s likely the message Burger King wants to send by offering a free taste of its new "Satisfries" today and Sunday.

Visit the fast-food restaurant and get a free Value Size Satisfries. Limit one per customer per visit. The deal is available at participating restaurants while supplies last.

Burger King says the new french fry has about 20 percent fewer calories than its regular fries, according to the Associated Press.

While the concept of "Satisfries" might be new, Burger King is hardly the first fast-food restaurant to dabble in healthy -- or, um, healthier -- options.

It's a welcome gesture, but I wonder how it translates in the realm of public opinion.

Discussion time: Do you think about healthy options when you visit a fast-food restaurant, or do you view the excursion as a chance to forget about calorie counts?
