MANCHESTER, Ga. -- Manchester High School's playoff hopes took a hit with a 54-13 defeat at home to Heard County Friday night.

The Braves controlled the first half by rolling up 281 yards rushing on 21 carries and took a 28-6 lead into the locker room.

"We embarrassed ourselves tonight," Manchester coach Tanner Glisson said. "We did not come out here ready to play. I don't think the effort was a problem tonight. We just played outside our selves and did uncharacteristic things."

Heard County opened the scoring with a five-play, 64-yard drive to go up 7-0 on the first of Duranta Dunson's four touchdowns, this one a 27-yard sprint.

Manchester appeared poised to answer when Quin Prather fumbled a snap on fourth-and-2 at the Heard County 11.

The Braves drove 89 yards in five plays to go up 14-0 as Jonthon Hunt hit Elijah Toney for a 16-yard scoring pass with 2:50 remaining in the first quarter.

The Braves next score was all Dunson as he had three carries covering 82 yards, including the final 9 for the score and a 21-0 lead.

Prather put the Blue Devils on the board with a 51-yard toss to Demarcus Addie, cutting the lead to 21-6.

Dunson scored his third touchdown with only 1:40 remaining in the first half on a 5-yard run.

Dunson ended the game with 236 yards rushing on 13 carries.

The Region 5-AA playoff picture is getting clearer with Heard County and Bowdon each remaining unbeaten in the region. Spencer has one region loss. Bremen and Manchester are currently tied for the fourth and final playoff spot and play each other next week.

"The next two weeks we've got Bremen and Kendrick back to back," Glisson said. "The next two games are going to tell the tale of our whole season."

Manchester added a score in the fourth period when Prather hit Monta Copeland for a 37-yard score one play after hooking up with Addie for a 31-yard pass. Tarvis Almon's point after made the score 48-13.
