High school roundup: Brookstone, Kendrick win area volleyball titles

MACON, Ga. -- Brookstone rallied from a set down to beat host First Presbyterian to win the Area 1-A tournament championship on Saturday

Santreece Stephens (24 kills, 3 aces), Janey Morton (25 assists, 12 kills, 6 aces) and Jazaria Brown (6 kills, 5 aces) were named to the all-tournament team.

The Lady Cougars will host a first-round match in the Class A state tournament on Thursday against Our Lady of Mercy at 6 p.m.Saturday at FPD

Kendrick swept past Brooks County and Spencer to win the Area 1-AA volleyball championship on Saturday.

Kahlia Lawrence was named the MVP of the tournament after she compiled 17 kills.

Calvary Christian 52, horizon Christian 0

CUMMING, Ga. -- Calvary Christian ran for 240 rushing yards in a 52-0 win over Horizon Christian Saturday.

Taylor Faulk had three carries for 75 yards and two touchdowns, and Jacquez Green had five carries for 53 yards and three touchdowns.

The defense for Calvary Christian forced five turnovers, including two interceptions by Jeffrey Scott and one by Cody Russell.

Calvary's other scores came on a 6-yard run by Anthony Santiago, a 1-yard run by Crawford Ledbetter and a 39-yard pass from Adam Gray to Scott.

The Knights are now 4-3 on the season. They will host Crown Athletics Friday at 7:30 p.m.Saturday at HorizonCalvary 27 13 12 0--52
