A man authorities say committed a robbery at Walmart in Phenix City was arrested Thursday near the TSYS campus on the RiverWalk after police chased him by vehicle and then on foot.

Phenix City Police were responding to a call concerning an alleged robbery at the supercenter when they came upon the red truck with the suspect in question. He led them on a vehicle chase into downtown Phenix City and the Frank Martin Pedestrian Bridge at 14th Street, where he abandoned the truck.

As he ran across the bridge, authorities say Columbus Police were nearby on the other end. Officers continued the foot chase down the RiverWalk.

They apprehended the suspect near the TSYS campus.

The suspect's name has not been released. More information will be released when made available.
