Eden Prairie, MN (SportsNetwork.com) - Minnesota Vikings safety Harrison Smith has been placed on the injured reserve/designated for return list.

Smith suffered a turf toe injury in Sunday's loss to the Carolina Panthers, and will use the time to rest and heal. The Notre Dame product will be eligible to return to practice in Week 13 and can play in games starting in Week 15.

Vikings coach Leslie Frazier told reporters Thursday that "the possibility of surgery" is being discussed.

Over five games this season, Smith has recorded 34 tackles and also has a pair of interceptions.
