CSU soccer team scores late to edge Valdosta State

Taylor Marks scored in the 80th minute to lead the Columbus State soccer team to a 2-1 win over Valdosta State on Friday afternoon at the Walden Soccer Complex.

Marks took the ball after it was headed out of the box and curved it into the right side of the net. It was her fourth goal of the season.

Valdosta State (8-2-3) scored first, just 7:44 into the game, as Deysia Reyes scored off a corner.

CSU (10-3), which has won seven straight, tied the game at 19:43 on Kelsey Pelletier's third goal of the year.

Moesha Hatcher (9-1) picked up the win in goal for the Lady Cougars. She made four saves.

CSU returns to Peach Belt Conference play on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Clayton State. CSU is 6-0 and first in the PBC standings. Clayton State is 5-0-2.
