Columbus State 3, Georgia College 2: CSU wins close match

The Columbus State Lady Cougars defeated Georgia College 3-2 Friday at the Lumpkin Center.

The two teams traded sets before CSU won the tiebreaker 15-11. Georgia College won the first and third sets (25-21, 25-13), and Columbus State won the second and fourth sets (25-20, 25-20) before picking up the fifth set.

Katie Poole led the Lady Cougars with 18 kills. She also had two assists, and ace and 13 digs. Erika Gelzinyte had 15 kills and 13 digs, Cheyenne Swenson totaled eight kills and four digs, Kierston Smith tallied 36 assists, Ivana Kazic had 11 assists and Caytlin Merrit led the team in digs with 15.

CSU (14-7, 6-4 Peach Belt Conference) will host Georgia Regents today at 2 p.m.
