West Point police are looking for a man who snatched cash from the register Thursday on Highway 18.

No one was injured in the 6:48 p.m. robbery in the 1900 block of Highway 18, police said.

A man entered the store and placed a drink on the counter as if he were going to purchase the item. When the cashier rang up the item and opened the cash drawer, the man lunged over the counter and snatched an undisclosed amount of money from register.

The robber fled from the store, entered a black 2010 Nissan Versa with a Georgia tag and sped east on Highway 18.

The robber is described as black, in his mid 40s, about 5 feet, 11 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds. He has black hair and a receding hair line. He was wearing a white shirt with a brown design, black pants and white tennis shoes.

Anyone with information on the robbery should call the West Point Police Department Criminal Investigative Division at 706-645-3551 or call Crime Stoppers at 334-756-8200.
