CSU's Robert Mize leads after opening day of classic

KILLEN, Ala. -- Robert Mize of the Columbus State men's golf team is in first place individually after day one of the TVA Credit Union Classic at Turtle Pot Yacht and Country Club in Killen, Ala.

Mize shot a 72 (par) in round one and a 67 in round two (five under par and the lowest score of the day) for a 139 overall.

Columbus State as a group is in second place with a 585, just five strokes behind leader North Alabama (580) in the 14-team field.

Yannick Gumowski shot a 76 and a 72 (148) and Bryan Lichimo shot a 74 in both rounds (148). The two are tied for seventh overall in the individual results.

Cates Culpepper shot a 74 and a 78 (152), which put him tied for 24th, and James Clayton shot a 79 and a 76 (155), putting him tied for 34th.

Day two of the classic will begin today at 8:30 a.m.
