Lindsay Drive: Victim describes one of Monday's shootings

It was while driving away from the sound of gunshots that Deitra Lewis drove straight past a man who then allegedly opened fire on her vehicle.

Lewis, 24, told the Ledger-Enquirer that she was driving down Lindsay Drive toward Carver Street at about 9 p.m. Monday when she saw the shooter's white truck.

There were multiple reports of shots fired around Lindsay Drive that night.

Lewis said that she heard gunshots already, which is why she'd chosen that route. After pulling up to a stop sign, the white truck turned toward Lewis' 2000 Kia.

She saw a light-skinned black man in his 20s and with dreads sitting behind the driver.

He looked at her car and begin firing.

It was only after Lewis got to the Piggly Wiggly — and her boyfriend pointed it out — that her car had been hit by a bullet. She called police, who informed her that she wasn't alone.

Lewis' boyfriend learned that his mother was a victim as well: bullets shot through her front window at the Terminal Court apartment complex, landing in a far wall.

Lewis didn't recognize the shooter.

"I'm not the type of person to have run-ins with everybody," she said.
