Two juveniles are in custody after being wounded during a shooting Wednesday night on the 200 block of Longleaf Drive in Auburn, Ala.

According to authorities, the suspects were attempting a robbery when their intended victim defended himself with a weapon.

At about 10 p.m., officers responded to a report of shots fired, where the complainant advised them that two juveniles — who knew the complainant — had entered his apartment, brandished a weapon, damaged property and made demands.

An altercation ensued.

Shots were exchanged before the suspects, identified as a 16- and 17-year old-juvenile from Opelika, Ala., fled.

Responding officers canvased the area and quickly located the suspects, who were taken to the East Alabama Medical Center Emergency Room for gunshot-related injuries.

The 16-year-old suspect was treated and released from the hospital and transported to the Lee County Jail. The 17-year-old is expected to join him today.

Both suspects are charged with first-degree robbery. The bond was set at $100,000 for each.
