Columbus State roundup: CSU, CVCC to hold baseball scrimmage; MIze receives honor

The Columbus State and Chattahoochee Valley Community College baseball programs will scrimmage Friday night at 6 at Ragsdale Field.

The scrimmage is designed to raise money and create awareness for children's cancer this month.

Players and coaches will shave their heads prior the game at 5 p.m. Fans are welcome to join the players and coaches to have their heads shaved as well.

Admission is free, and donations for cancer research will be accepted at the gate.

Proceeds will be equally divided between the VS. Cancer Foundation, which is a non-profit organization dedicated to saving children's lives by empowering athletes and communities to fund lifesaving childhood cancer efforts, and local children's hospitals.

Peach Belt honors Mize

Columbus State men's golfer Robert Mize was named the Peach Belt Conference Golfer of the Week, announced by the conference office Thursday.

This is the second time he has won the award this season.

Mize won his second tournament in as many starts earlier this week, winning the TVA Credit Union Classic in Killen, Ala.

Mize currently leads the PBC in stroke average with a mark of 70.0 through six rounds.
