Columbus, Kendrick teams in volleyball quarterfinals Saturday

October 25, 2013

Two remaining Bi-City area volleyball teams, Columbus and Kendrick, will play in their respective quarterfinals matches Saturday afternoon.

Columbus will host Chestatee at 1 p.m. After reseeding for the final eight teams, the Lady Blue Devils (40-14) earned the top seed in Class AAAA and will play the No. 8. Chestatee is playing in only its second playoffs in program history, last season being the first, and its first quarterfinals ever.

Kendrick (23-1), meanwhile, travels to 3 seed Lovett at 5 p.m. The Lady Cherokees have lost only once, to Lee County, this season, but they will face the defending Class AA state champions.

The winners will advance to the semifinals, which will be played next Wednesday at the highest seed's home court.
