Kendrick 20, Manchester 14: Brandon Wade scores in OT to give Cherokees the win

MANCHESTER, Ga. -- Kendrick's Brandon Wade scored from a yard out in overtime to lead Kendrick to a 20-14 win over Manchester on Friday night in a Region 5-AA matchup.

Wade carried on all three of the Cherokees' plays in the overtime, covering 15 yards.

Manchester had the ball first in overtime. On the second play, Tyrell Griffin sacked the quarterback and forced a fumble. Emmanuel Brown recovered for the Cherokees.

Reno Lee, who led the Cherokees with 87 yards rushing on 18 carries, scored in the second quarter. Kendrick also scored on a 35-yard pass play from Jon Hines to Loyoll Parks.

Manchester also scored in the second quarter, but the Cherokees led 14-8 at halftime.

Manchester tied the game in the third quarter.

The win kept the Cherokees' playoff hopes alive. They are tied for fifth in the region at 3-4 with Bremen, a half-game behind Manchester.
