On a cold night at Rex Knight Field, Marion County rolled to a 39-14 victory over Brookstone and remained unbeaten at 8-0.
The Eagles were led by running back Johnny Royal who scored three touchdowns and rushed for 119 yards on 32 carries. Marion's Lorenzo Smothers had 164 offensive yards -- 97 receiving and 67 rushing -- and scored two touchdowns.
Brookstone led Marion County 14-12 at halftime thanks to a 10-yard touchdown pass from Jacqwon Roberts to Mark McVay and a 28-yard touchdown run by Cougars running back Sam Ndem.
But the Cougars were shut out in the second half by a stingy Marion County defense that only allowed Brookstone to gain 192 total offensive yards. The Eagles racked up 416 offensive yards and scored 27 unanswered points in the second half.
Ndem was the leading rusher for Brookstone gaining 76 yards on 7 carries. Roberts was 10-28 passing for 90 yards. Parker James had two fumble recoveries for the Cougars.
Quarterback Dustin Eckert was 8-12 for 101 yards for Marion County. He also had nine carries for 91 yards.
Brandon Green led the Eagles in tackles with seven, and Roderick Bishop had one sack.
