CSU men in 5th, women in 10th in golf tourneys

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Columbus State men's golf team played the first two rounds of the McDonough Cup Monday.

The team shot a combined 577 (289 and 288), putting them in fifth place out of 16 teams after the first and second rounds.

Yannick Gumowski shot a 71 and a 69, putting him tied for second individually. Robert Mize shot a 71 and 72, putting him tied for 13th.

Bryan Lichimo had a 77 and 71 (tied for 43rd), Jack Stumpfig shot a 73 and 76 (tied for 53rd) and D.J. Tozier had a 74 and 79 (tied for 69th).

The Cougars will tee off again today at 8:30 a.m. for the third and final round.

CONOVER, N.C. -- The Columbus State women's golf teams competed in day one of the Rock Barn Collegiate Invitational Monday.

The Lady Cougars combined for a 324, good enough for 10th place out of 14 teams.

Courtney Lowery and Kaitie Cross each had an eight-over 79 in the first round, putting them tied for 30th.

Steph Charteris had a 10-over 81 (tied for 36th), and Ciera Bagley came in with a 14-over 85 (tied for 51st).

CSU will tee off in the final round today at 8:30 a.m.
