Santa Fe, Argentina ( - Newell's Old Boys salvaged a point on Friday as David Trezeguet netted a late brace to give the club a 2-2 draw with Colon.

Colon got off to a superb start, going two goals to the good as Gabriel Graciani and Sebastian Prediger handed the club a comfortable advantage.

It looked as if Colon would march on to collect all three points until Trezeguet cut the margin in half with his goal in the 73rd minute.

Trezeguet then rescued Newell's in dramatic fashion, netting an equalizer six minutes from time.

The result sees Newell's lead at the top of the table dwindle to just two points after San Lorenzo's 1-0 defeat of Boca Juniors on Sunday brought the club to within two points of the Apertura leaders.

Arsenal drops to third place after it was held to a 1-1 home draw by All Boys on Friday.
