Shaw's Mustafa places second at GHSA state cross country meet

CARROLLTON, Ga. -- Shaw's Hakeem Mustafa was the top finisher among local runners in the GHSA state cross country meet Saturday.

Mustafa finished second in the Class AAAA state meet in 16 minutes, 27.91 seconds. The winner was Marist's Daniel Navarro in 16:13.12.

Tow other local runners finished in the top 20.

Spencer's Eddie Stafford was 15th in Class AA with a time of 18:12.79. Columbus High's Joseph Bridges was 19th in Class AAAA in 17:44.92.

The Columbus High girls had the best team results from Columbus as the Lady Blue Devils finished ninth in AAAA. The Columbus boys were 13th.

The Carver boys were 23rd in AAA. In AA, Chattahoochee County was 19th, Jordan boys 20th and Kendrick 29th. The Jordan girls were 25th.

In the AHSAA meet in Moulton, the Smiths Station boys finished sixth and the girls finished 10th in Class 6A.
