Harris County will be at home for the first round of the Class AAAAA state playoffs, after all.
The Tigers beat Thomas County Central on Friday to finish in a three-way tie for first in Region 1 with TCC and Lee County.
The first tiebreaker is head-to-head, but the teams all went 1-1.
The next tiebreaker was points allowed in those games. That left TCC and Lee County in a tie for first with Harris County third.
At that point, most tiebreakers would become a two-team tiebreaker, and TCC would have been first since it beat Lee County.
For a reason that has not been explained publicly, the region decided not to use that tiebreaker.
The next tiebreaker was points allowed in all region games, which brought games against Bainbridge, Hardaway and Northside into play.
With that tiebreaker applied, Lee County was first and declared the champion. That left Harris County and TCC.
This time, the two-team tiebreaker was used. And with Harris County's win over TCC, it earned the No. 2 seed and a home playoff games.
The Tigers will host Glynn Academy at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
In other first-round games, Carver will host B.E.S.T. Academy, an all-boys school in Atlanta, in Class AAA. In Class AA, Kendrick will play at Dade County.
In an Alabama Class 6A game, Smiths Station will play at Enterprise.
