A man woke to police and medics leaning over him after he was found unconscious and injured in the grass outside an Alpine Drive residence, according to a Columbus Police report.

Officers found the man at about 1:15 p.m. and called for medical assistance. After he was roused, the 52-year-old told police he was talking to a woman from the porch of the 4000 block home at about 1 p.m. Suddenly, he was pushed from his chair and punched.

And that was all he remembered, the man told police. "I don't remember a thing until y'all were waking me up over in the grass," He allegedly said.

The victim told police the suspect possibly stole $750 in cash that was stowed in the pocket of his overalls.
