Recap: Providence vs. Brown

Providence, RI (SportsNetwork.com) - Kadeem Batts registered a double-double with 19 points and a game-high 11 rebounds as the Providence Friars slipped by Brown, 73-69, in non-conference play at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.

Tyler Harris scored 21 points and pulled down seven boards for the Friars (2-0), followed by LaDontae Henton who filled his stat line with 15 points, eight rebounds, four assists and four steals in the triumph.

The Bears (1-1) were led by Sean McGonagill who dropped in 21 points, shooting 5-of-12 behind the 3-point line, while Cedric Kuakumensah pitched in with 16 points.

Providence led by as many as 17 points in the first half, shooting 53.1 percent from the field and 4-of-8 beyond the arc, en route to a 44-30 edge at the break.

Brown stormed back in the second half, holding the hosts to just 8-of-32 from the field and 2-of-10 on the perimeter, but even after taking a three-point advantage with just under six minutes remaining the visitors could not hold on.

In a game that featured six ties and two lead changes, Providence survived despite shooting only 39.1 percent from the floor.
