Skype with award-winning author

Walter Sorrells, award-winning author of young-adult book series "Flight 29 Down" and "The Travelers," will make a virtual visit Friday to the Columbus Public Library, 3000 Macon Road.

The Skype chat will be at 4 p.m. in the Synovus/CB&T Meeting Room A. Admission is free.

Sorrells also has written teen mysteries "Fake ID," "Club Dread," "Eratum," "First Shot" and "The Silent Room."

Adult mystery fans might know Sorrells as the creator of the character Sunny Childs, a six-novel series about an Atlanta private investigator, written under the pen name Ruth Birmingham. Sorrells also has written mysteries under the pen name Lynn Abercrombie, including "Blind Fear."
