Two teams tied for Senior 4-ball lead

The teams of Rocky Costa of Alpharetta and Lee Dennis of Comer and Chris Hall of Kennesaw and Jack Hall of Sea Island are still tied after shooting 69 Thursday in the second round of the Georgia Senior Four-Ball Championship.

Those two teams are tied at 135 in the tournament, which is being played the Country Club of Columbus. The final round is Friday.

There are two local teams in the championship flight. Bobby Brent Jr. and Jimmy Holman are tied for 12th at 2-over 144 after a 71 Thursday. Darrell Beck and Ronnie Beck are tied for 31st after shooting a 76 for a two-day total of 154.

In the Super Senior flight -- also at CCC -- Bill Ploeger of Columbus and Spencer Sappington of Milton are third at 2-over 144 after shooting a 70.

Flights 1-4 are being played at Green Island Country Club.

Bill McCune and Frank Romeo, both of Columbus, are tied for first in Flight 2 at 3-under 139 after firing a 68.

There are five local teams in Flight 1.

Andy Robinson of Columbus and Dan Trotter of Cataula are tied for first at 2-under 140 with Arch Arnold and Fred Miller, both of Columbus. Both teams shot 70 Thursday.

Charles Speakman of Columbus and Darryl Harris of Woodstock were eighth at 145 after a 74. Murray Calhoun III and Speedy Gilstrap, both of Columbus, are tied for ninth at 146 after a 74. Jay Pease and Tom Stewart, both of Columbus, are 11th at 147 after a 73.
