Kendrick 12, Dade County 0: Cherokees snap playoff drought with shutout

TRENTON. Ga. -- Triston Dowdell scored on a 15-yard run in the first quarter Friday night to give Kendrick the lead and the defense shut down Dade County to propel the Cherokees a 12-0 win -- their first playoff win since 1995.

Kendrick's Reno Lee added another touchdown on a 3-yard run in the fourth quarter to close out the scoring.

Lee had 20 carries for 102 yards. Brandon Wade picked up 67 yards on seven rushes. Dowdell ended up with 31 yards on four carries.

Kendrick ran the ball a total of 44 times for 239 yards in the game.

Cherokees' quarterback Jon Hines was 2-for-4 through the air for 47 yards and one interception.

Loyoll Parks had both catches from Hines for 47 yards.

On defense, Marvin Lewis and Emmanuel Brown each recorded eight solo tackles.

Dade County was led by Zac Freeman. He picked up 78 yards on 13 carries and had 25 yards on three receptions.

The Cherokees, 7-4, will travel to Atlanta to play Lovett in the second round next week. Lovett defeated Union County 56-21 Friday.

In 1995, Kendrick defeated Thomas County Central in the first round before losing to Josey in the second round.
