Recap: Iona vs. Wofford

New Rochelle, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Sean Armand scored 20 points and handed out four assists as the Iona Gaels coasted to a 76-55 decision over the Wofford Terriers in a non-conference matchup at the Hynes Center.

Isaiah Williams added 19 points and eight rebounds to help Iona (1-1) earn its first win of the season. David Laury contributed 15 points and seven boards.

Spencer Collins paced the Terriers (1-2) with a game-high 23 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the floor. Karl Cochran had a rough outing as he went 2-of-9 from beyond the arc en route to 10 points while Lee Skinner corralled 10 rebounds to go along with four assists.

Wofford took a four-point lead early in the contest but could not manage to stay in front despite shooting 50 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes. The Gaels went into the intermission on top, 35-31, after they converted 13-of-14 attempts at the free-throw line in the first half.

Iona pulled away in the second stanza by knocking down 68 percent of its field goal tries including 5-of-8 from behind the 3-point line. The Terriers could not keep up as they were limited to just 35.7 percent shooting from the floor after the break.

The Gaels enjoyed a 37-24 edge in the rebounding battle which helped them tally 19 second chance points compared to just four by Wofford.
