Recap: DePaul vs. Wright State

Rosemont, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Cleveland Melvin registered a double-double with 23 points and 13 rebounds as the DePaul Blue Demons rallied back after halftime for a 81-72 victory over the Wright State Raiders in a game that served as part of the CBE Hall of Fame Classic at Allstate Arena.

Brandon Young contributed 14 points and four assists for DePaul (2-1) while Tommy Hamilton tallied 13 points on 4-od-6 shooting from the floor. Billy Garrett gave the Blue Demons a lift off the bench with 12 points and two steals in 22 minutes of action.

Wright State (1-2) lost its second game in a row despite four Raiders scoring in double-figures. J.T. Yoho paced the Raiders with 13 points while A.J. Pacher and Matt Vest both went a combined 8-of-10 from the floor to net 11 points apiece. Jerran Young led Wright State's second unit with 10 points, but he was also guilty of four of the team's 19 turnovers.

The Raiders took a 35-33 lead into the intermission after they shot 44.4 percent from the floor and knocked down 4-of-8 from beyond the arc in the opening 20 minutes. Although DePaul converted 50 percent of its field goal attempts in the first half, it trailed at the break as it attempted nine less shots from the floor.

Wright State managed to extend its lead to as many as nine in the early stages of the second period, but the Blue Demons heated up to connect on 57.7 percent of their field goal attempts and 17-of-22 tries at the free-throw line after halftime. DePaul closed out the game on a 20-4 run to earn the nine-point decision.

The hosts enjoyed a 34-19 edge in the rebounding battle.
