Recap: Wyoming vs. Arkansas State

Laramie, WY (SportsNetwork.com) - Josh Adams led the way with 20 points and six assists as the Wyoming Cowboys coasted to an 85-64 victory over the Arkansas State Red Wolves in non-conference action at Arena Auditorium.

Wyoming (2-1) also received a strong performance from Larry Nance, Jr., who posted 18 points and six rebounds. Riley Grabau contributed 16 points while Derek Cooke, Jr pulled down a team-high 10 boards.

Melvin Johnson, III. paced the Red Wolves (2-1) with 22 points and six rebounds. Kirk Van Slyke chipped in 13 points.

The Cowboys took control in the opening period as they knocked down 64 percent of their field goal attempts and converted 19-of-23 tries at the free-throw line en route to a 56-32 halftime lead. ASU could not match the hosts as it managed to connect on only 31.3 percent of its shots from the floor in the first half.

The Red Wolves narrowly decreased their deficit in the second stanza as they made 41.7 percent of their field goal tries and went 9-of-11 at the charity stripe. Wyoming led by a double-digit margin for the final 28 minutes of the contest.

The Cowboys held a 35-28 advantage in the rebounding battle and outscored ASU, 36-20, in the paint.
