New Orleans, LA (SportsNetwork.com) - Louis Dabney scored 25 points and grabbed nine boards to lift the Tulane Green Wave as they defeated the Loyola- Chicago Ramblers, 65-59, in a non-conference bout at Devlin Fieldhouse.
Tulane (3-0) also received 25 points from Jonathan Stark, who went 8-of-11 from the floor and also converted 8-of-9 attempts at the free-throw line. Tre Drye tied Dabney for the team-high with nine boards.
Christian Thomas and Matt O'Leary tallied 12 points apiece for Loyola (1-2) with the former also finishing with nine rebounds. Jeff White chipped in 11 points while Milton Doyle hit on just 2-of-13 shots from the floor en route to nine points.
Loyola made 40 percent of its field goal tries in the opening 20 minutes and took a 31-19 lead into the intermission after it limited the Green Wave to just 24 percent of their shots from the floor. The hosts missed all five of their attempts from beyond the arc in the first half.
The Green Wave rallied back after the break by connecting on 65.4 percent of their field goal attempts while also converting 9-of-12 at the charity stripe. The Ramblers held on to the lead their built in the first stanza until the 2:39 mark of the second period. Tulane used a 9-0 run to pull within one-point and Stark put it ahead for good as he drained a 3-point shot with 1:41 remaining.
