Ice Bears 9, Cottonmouths 4: Knoxville jumps to 5-0 lead and cruises to win

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The Ice Bears scored four goals in a 14-minute span in the first and second periods to take control of the game and were never threatened in a 9-4 win over the Cottonmouths Saturday night.

Knoxville's Jon Higgins scored at 15:38 of the first period. A minute later, Phil Bronner added the second goal. Brett Valliquette made it 3-0 at 5:14 of the second period and David Segal added the fourth goal at 9:01. Valliquette scored again on a power play and the score was 5-0 at the end of two periods.

Jordan Draper, Will Aide, Tory Allan and Levi Lind picked up goals for Columbus in the third period, but Snakes gave up four goals to Ben Souders, Cody Dion, Eric Satim and Francis Drolet to make the final count 9-4.

The Cottonmouths return home today to host Huntsville at 4 p.m.
