Neutral Record: EWU 0-0, Washington 0-0. Conference Record: EWU 0-0, Washington 0-0. Series Record: Washington leads, 11-1. GAMES NOTES: The Washington Huskies will play in their final game before heading to New York for the 2K Sports Classic as they go up against the Eastern Washington Eagles in an all-Evergreen State affair at Alaska Airlines Arena. The Eagles haven't been very busy in the first week of the season with just a single bout against Division III Pacific (Oregon) on their resume. At least their lone outing ended in a victory as the Eagles blew past the Boxers, 87-58, on their home floor. The win did come on the Eagles' home floor where they went 7-7 a year ago. Away from home was a different story as the Eagles managed just a pair of victories in 15 road tests. On Sunday the Huskies will be trying to bounce back from a difficult loss at home to UC Irvine in its last outing. The Huskies only shot at a 37.5 percent clip and had 10 fewer field goals than the Anteaters. Washington also suffered from a 52-28 disadvantage on points in the paint in taking its first loss of the season. In the season opener, Washington earned an 88-78 victory over Seattle. The inconsistency on their home floor seems to have carried over from last year when the Huskies were a mediocre 11-7 at Alaska Airlines Arena. Next up, as part of the annual 2K Classic, the Huskies will battle with Indiana at Madison Square Garden. This a first meeting between these intrastate foes since 2010. In that contest the Huskies earned a 98-72 victory, their 11th in 12 all-time meetings. It is difficult to take too much out of Eastern Washington's victory over Pacific (Oregon) considering the gap in terms of the level of competition. For what it's worth, the Eagles were efficient offensively in the victory, shooting at a 57.4 percent from the field while assisting on 21 of their field goals. All five starters scored in double figures, led by a 22-point, 11- rebound effort from Venky Jois. Jois connected on 10-of-13 shots from the field as he got his sophomore season off to a strong start. Parker Kelly added 15 points, Drew Brandon tallied 14, Tyler Harvey chipped in 13 and Martin Seiferth tacked on 10. C.J. Wilcox, who considered declaring for the NBA Draft last spring, has been scoring at an impressive rate in the first two games. Wilcox scored 24 points in the loss to UV Irvine after having 22 points in the season opener. Wilcox is shooting at a 44.4 percent rate from the field and has also done a solid job on the boards (5.5 rpg). Andrew Andrews (15.0 ppg, 5.0 rpg) has stood in as the team's second option, providing efficient shooting (.474) and solid work on the glass for a guard. Nigel Williams-Goss was the prize of the incoming recruiting class this year but he has gotten off to an uneven start, shooting 36.4 percent from the field. Williams-Goss did score 13 points and handed out five assists against UC Irvine but he made good on just 6-of-15 tries from the floor. Washington is shooting below 40 percent from the field as a team. Thus far only Wilcox has been able to really pose a serious threat on the offensive end for the Huskies. His scoring alone could be enough for the Huskies in this one, considering the Eagles have yet to test themselves against a Division I opponent.
