Eagles' Kelly judges quarterbacks by wins and picks

Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Philadelphia Eagles coach Chip Kelly was in a joking mood Monday, one day after his team held off the Washington Redskins to take control of the NFC East.

Despite Nick Foles' outstanding play over the past three weeks, Kelly has yet to name Foles the starting quarterback for the rest of the season.

Kelly had some fun with the media on Monday, saying Foles will be the starter for the team's upcoming bye week.

The first-year coach of the Eagles went on to say that he judges quarterbacks by wins and interceptions. Ironically, Foles has done a great job in each category.

Foles has completed 103-of-162 passes for 1,554 yards and 16 touchdowns with no interceptions in eight games (five starts) this season. The second-year pro out of Arizona has also scored twice on the ground.

Michael Vick, of course, began the season as the Eagles' starting signal- caller and in parts of six games this season has completed 54.6 percent of his passes for 1,215 yards with five touchdowns and three picks.

Vick pulled his hamstring in Week 5 against the New York Giants and missed the next two games. He came back in Week 8 to face the Giants again, but aggravated his hamstring injury.

Over the last three games, Foles has had quarterback ratings of 158.3, 149.3 and 104.3.

Kelly expects Vick to be completely healthy after the bye week. The former Oregon coach will speak with both quarterbacks when Vick is healthy, but all signs point toward Foles as the starter on Dec. 1 versus Arizona.
