An automatic license plate scanner landed two brothers in jail and helped an officer recover a stolen vehicle Tuesday, according to a Columbus Police report.

The officer was near the southbound entrance to I-185 on Buena Vista Road when his automated license plate reader alerted to a stolen vehicle. He stopped the 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee and arrested the car's two occupants — 17-year-old Brandon Jones and 17-year-old Brenton Jones.

The two were charged with receiving stolen property and transported to Muscogee County Jail
