Recap: Pepperdine vs. San Jose St

Malibu, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Jaleel Williams scored 22 points and pulled down eight rebounds as the San Jose State Spartans captured an 83-77 win over the Pepperdine Waves in non-conference action at Firestone Fieldhouse.

Also scoring in double figures for the Spartans (1-4) were Devante Wilson with 20 points, shooting 6-of-10 from 3-point range, followed by Rashad Muhammad and DJ Brown with 14 points apiece.

The Waves (3-1) were paced by Brendan Lane who posted a game-high 23 points to go along with nine rebounds and six blocked shots. Stacy Davis produced 20 points and nine boards, while Jeremy Major tacked on nine points, nine assists and eight rebounds in the setback.

SJSU shot a mere 31.3 percent from the floor in the first half, compared to 51.7 percent for the Waves, leaving the visitors with a 44-34 deficit at the break.

In the second half the Spartans stormed back with an impressive 56.7 percent accuracy from the field and a sizzling 10-of-15 beyond the arc, all while Pepperdine was coming up empty on 11 3-point tries.

The Waves outscored the visitors in the paint by a 40-22 margin, but out on the perimeter San Jose State finished up 14-of-27 on the night.
